Frequently asked questions.
How long does it take to train for a marathon?
Anywhere from 2-5 months depending on fitness level, experience level and personal goals. In general, the bulk of the training is 1.5-2 months leading into the marathon. The last 1.5-2 weeks are a "taper”period. And the first 1-1.5 months is building up a baseline of fitness
What types of workouts are part of marathon training?
In general, each week we’d aim for 4-5 runs, 1-2 strength days and 1-2 recovery days. The key to effective training is being strategic with each workout. For example, over the course of the week, we’ll want to complete 1 long run, 1 speed/interval run, 1 race pace run, 1 recovery run. We’ll wait to focus on strength and mobility. And we’ll prioritize rest days.
What’s the cost?
My goal is to prioritize affordability. Individual workouts are $30 dollars. Custom training plans are $50. A full program that involves weekly workouts and a custom training plan is $100/month.
What’s the best marathon?
In my opinion … the Big Sur International Marathon. It’s beautiful, challenging and a really unique experience. Doesn’t get better! It’s the picture on the top of this page :)
